Virtual Telecommunications Management

Communications Options created the Virtual Telecommunications Management (VTM) service to provide to medium-sized companies the same level of telecommunications management expertise that is found in the largest companies in the world.

The service is offered by our consulting staff. Our VTM clients are assigned a consultant who acts in every respect as though he or she were a member of the client’s own staff, reporting into the client’s organisation wherever the client chooses. The consultant also acts as the client’s interface into Communications Options, bringing all of the firm’s expertise to bear on the client’s telecommunications issues.

The word virtual in the name is included to indicate that our clients can receive that level of expertise on a less than full-time basis, with the concomitant cost savings that this implies. The virtual telecommunications manager’s role is essentially a consulting role. The role is not designed to replace operational staff that may be currently employed in co-ordinating moves, adds and changes, helpdesk activities, or monitoring of networks.

Components of the VTM service can include strategic management, vendor management, technical expertise, knowledge transfer, risk management, project management, continuous optimisation, and management reporting. Each VTM engagement is designed explicitly to address the client’s telecommunications issues and requirements.

Fees for the VTM service are based on the size of the client, and the amount of consultant time that would likely be required. Before commencing work, we would provide the client with a firm annual contractual cost. VTM typically costs considerably less than the annual salary of an equivalent full-time telecommunications resource.
